First Skillshare: December 1st

Peculiarities: a Cataloging Overview and Journey into Non-Book Materials

When: Thursday, December 1 at 6 pm
Where: CDC, room 361

Can’t remember what goes in the 300 field? Do indicators and subfields have you down? Please join us as Kelly Wavrin travels into the depths of the MARC format. Not an expert, but a cataloging enthusiast, Kelly will share what she has learned about cataloging as a student at St. Kate’s.

Do you have a skill to share? Let us know or bring your ideas to the skillshare so we can set up future sessions.

Coming soon: Skillshares!

Improve your skills, get some teaching experience, and get to know your peers. Skillshares are short, focused workshops for sharing the skills that we have learned in class, on the job, or on our own.

Maybe you’re graduating soon and lamenting the fact that you didn’t have a chance to take Searching Electronic Databases or Indexing and Abstracting. Perhaps you need to learn how to catalog motion pictures, maps, or music scores. Maybe you need to brush up on basic cataloging, or learn how to give a mean book talk or storytelling hour.

How about government publications? xHTML?

Our suggestion --- let’s get together and share our knowledge.

Tell us if there's something you’d like to learn, or something you can teach. Alumni are invited to participate!

Stay tuned for more details and an upcoming schedule.
